ASFINAG announced the details of the new vignette on Thursday. The sea-green sticker will cost over 100 euros for the first time.
The winter months are just around the corner, and motorists will face some changes. From November 1, the situational winter tyre requirement will apply, and one month later, the validity of the freeway vignette for 2025 will begin. ASFINAG has now announced the details.
The colour of the new vignette will be a modern sea green. It will replace sun yellow and be available from around 6,000 sales partners from the last days of November. At the same time, motorists will be hit in the face by another factor: the steep price increase.
Last year, despite record inflation, prices were not increased, but now the statutory mechanism is again taking effect. According to the harmonized consumer price index (HICP), prices will be raised by 7.7 percent. The vignette will then cost 103.80 euros.
The proceeds from the toll revenue will flow back into the operation, construction, maintenance, and road safety of the 2,265-kilometer Austrian freeway and expressway network. As usual, the annual vignette is valid for 14 months—from December 1 of the previous year to January 31 of the following year.
“The choice of color is important because it allows us to control the adhesive vignette better and more optimally—to the benefit of our customers. Distinguishability from the previous year and signal effect are important reasons for the respective choice of color—that’s why we ensure a clear differentiation from the previous year’s color, sun yellow with sea green,” explains ASFINAG Managing Director Claudia Eder.
